The three-year-old Hellbent filly Benedetta is on a fast track to stakes company after walloping a handy field of fillies in the Thoroughbred Club Australia (Bm64) over 1300m at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday.
A Breenet One To Watch following her win last start win at Cranbourne, the Jason Warren-trained filly finished full of running under Daniel Stackhouse to defeat Discerning (Street Boss) by two and a quarter length, with the same distance back to Freeways (Epaulette) in third.
Benedetta is unlucky not to have a perfect record. At her debut at Moe on December 9, the daughter of Hellbent rattled home for a luckless third.
Sporting the colours of Laurence Eales, Benedetta was a $75,000 purchase for Eales Racing Syndications from the Mill Park draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
Bred by Brenton and Liz Parker, Benedetta is a half-sister to Group II-placed Whatafox (Foxwedge).
Her 3-time winning dam Whatalovelyday placed third in the Group II BRC The Roses at Doomben, won by Bohemian Lily.
Whatalovelyday’s dam Krysera (Elvstroem) is a half-sister to the Champion 3YO in NZ in 2001-02, Group 1 NZ Derby hero Leica Gov, Group 1 VRC Australian Guineas winner Light Fantastic, and dual Group III winner Lectrice (Encosta De Lago).
McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency (FBAA) went to $150,000 to secure Whatalovelyday’s Impending filly at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Henry Dwyer Racing shelled out $130,000 for a Rubick half-brother to Benedetta consigned by Mill Park Stud to the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
After foaling a King’s Legacy colt in October, Whatalovelyday was covered by Wild Ruler.
