Saturday's Flemington meeting heralds the start of a metropolitan double header and the nominations are now available online.
Melbourne will have a city race meeting on both days of the weekend with Flemington to race on Saturday while Sandown will host the Grand National Hurdle and Bletchingly Stakes fixture on Sunday.
Trainers have made 272 nominations for Flemington, including 61 entries for the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1600m but that number will rise with the addition of a four-year-old handicap over 2000m.
The race has been added to the card to replace the race lost at last Saturday's Caulfield meeting with nominations for the $120,000 contest to close on Tuesday.
The Flemington meeting features a pair of early three-year-old sprints over 1000m, which have attracted some handy gallopers looking to build on promising two-year-old seasons.
Tony McEvoy has entered Azazel for the open three-year-old division while the Adelaide stakes winner Indian Thunder, from the Darren Weir stable, and the smart Wait For No One are also among the entries.
Maribyrnong Trial winner Madeenaty has been entered for both the open and fillies' division while the stakes-placed Chateau Griffo, who was third on debut in the Group III Blue Diamond Preview in January, is an entry for the fillies' race.
