Gai and Adrian to Train $1million Too Darn Hot Filly

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 13

First season Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (GB) had his turn in the spotlight late on Friday when his filly from Enbihaar made $1million for Vinery Stud and her new owners will be Madeleine Lloyd Webber and her husband Andrew Lloyd Webber of Watership Down Stud.

$1million Too Darn Hot filly from Enbihaar

The second foal of Group II winning Magnus mare Enbihaar, she was bought by McKeever Bloodstock/Watership Down/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing and provided her young sire with the best result of all first season sires at the sale so far.

Too Darn Hot was bred by Watership Down Stud and the son of champion sire Dubawi was retained to race going on to be the Champion European 2YO and 3YO Colt his generation.

Too Darn Hot was a superstar for Watership Down Stud.

“We wanted to come and buy something by Too Darn Hot, and when I say we, I mean Madeleine Lloyd Webber and her husband Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Watership Down Stud,” explained Johnny McKeever.

“We wanted to support the stallion, obviously they still own half the horse, they stand it in conjunction with Darley, so we looked at every single yearling by this stallion in the sale and she was the one we fell in love with the most.

“We love all of them, but she was the absolute queen, we felt.”

Second in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, Enbihaar was bought from the Shadwell Dispersal at Magic Millions in 2021 for $825,000 by Bahen Bloodstock and her first foal, a filly by Zoustar, made $550,000 at the same sale as a weanling and was also bought by Bahen Bloodstock.

Named Extremely Wicked, she finished second on debut to Magic Millions contender Croatian Belle at Moonee Valley and holds an entry for the Blue Diamond.

“The mother was a really, really top two-year-old who happened to be a purchased by Angus Gold for Shadwell in the old days. She was second in a Blue Diamond, so we know that her mother had a massive amount of ability,” McKeever said.

“It’s always a bonus when you’re buying a first foal out of a mare that had a huge amount of ability.”

The filly will have every opportunity succeed in the care of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

“Gai and Adrian have been amazing supporters of mine, but that’s got nothing to do with it really,” McKeever explained.

“Madeleine and Andrew wanted to have a horse in training with Gai and Adrian, so it’s a lovely, happy coincidence that we all know each other and get on great.

“Who wouldn’t want to have a horse in training with Gai and Adrian? Golden Slippers, Magic Millions and whatever you like, they can do it all.”

Enbihaar produced a colt by I Am Invincible last spring and is back in foal to him again.
