Injury has ended the Melbourne spring carnival campaigns of two Group I winners.
Tavago and Scales Of Justice have both come out of their respective last races with issues and will not race in Melbourne again this spring.
The 2016 Australian Derby winner Tavago finished unplaced in the Group III JRA Cup over 2040m at Moonee Valley on September 29 and has been sent to the spelling paddock.
Trent Busuttin, who trains the four-year-old in partnership with Natalie Young, told NZ Racing Desk Tavago is out until the autumn.
"He pulled up sore again so he's gone straight to the paddock. We'll concentrate on the autumn with him when the tracks are wetter," Busuttin said.
"You've got to be smart about it and do the right thing by the horse."
The Lindsey Smith-trained Scales Of Justice was not nominated for this Saturday's Group I Toorak Handicap after disappointing in a gallop at the weekend and will return to Western Australia.
Scales Of Justice pulled up lame after he was galloped on when running seventh in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield two Saturdays ago.
