China Horse Club, Newgate and partners invested heavily in colts at Magic Millions last year and will have three runners in the 2YO Classic on Saturday in Sovereign Fund, Empire of Japan and Royal Entrance, the powerful buying partnership securing their first colt this year when paying $850,000 for a glorious looking son of Capitalist on Tuesday.
Consigned by Newgate and knocked down to China Horse Club/Newgate/Go Bloodstock/Trilogy Racing, the handsome chestnut is the image of his sire and is the first foal from well related Zoustar mare Menagerie.
She is a winning half-sister to Champion NZ 2YO Il Quello Veloce from the family of Group I winning sprinters Terravista and Tiger Tees, plus a host of other stakes-winners.
Menagerie missed in 2021 so had no foal last year, but was covered again last spring by Capitalist, who is the leading third crop sire in the country by winners and has a live chance in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Sovereign Fund.
