Breednet - Saturday October 7

Tye Angland missed his brother's wedding to ride at Randwick on Saturday but picked up a double including the Group I Spring Champion Stakes aboard Ace High.

Once again, Racenet was on hand to get the feedback from every rider after every race.

This is what the jockeys thought of their rides during the day.

GOODFELLA

Jason Collett

It was a tough win. He did a bit of work early just to land three deep and do more work. It was impressive. He's a very laid back colt, a bit too laid back about it really. I gave him two hits after 100m or 200m just to get him going up there. He's not giving it all yet. I went for him and I thought I was vulnerable to swoopers here but every time I hit him he gave more and more.

2nd

OUR MANTRA

Blake Shinn

Great run. The barrier was just a bit costly and probably looking for 1600m.

3rd

SPARKY LAD

Brenton Avdulla

He had every chance. No excuses

4th

CORAL BAY

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

I thought it was a nice run. Obviously next preparation he'll develop into a nice horse, just needs time.

5th

CABEIRIAN

Glyn Schofield

He jumped well and had his chance in front but they were just a bit too strong for us.

6th

REGENT

Kerrin McEvoy

Just an even pace coming home.

7th

CHARLIE CHAP

Brock Ryan (a3)

He just over-raced with the blinkers on and probably needs to come back in distance.

8th

MOLTEN

Sam Clipperton

He's just very immature and needs to work out his trade.

9th

FRENCH TUNE

Adam Hyeronimus

Maybe it was the step up to 1400m, maybe just a sprinter.

ALWARD (IRE)

Brenton Avdulla

It worked out well. I was always going to be last in the run, Blake bowled along at a nice speed. I just had the back of Kerrin and that let me be carted most of the way around but I was always going to get to the half mile and make it a staying test and he was last man standing.

2nd

UP 'N' ROLLING (NZ)

Kerrin McEvoy

Just laboured home.

3rd

VELADERO

Blake Shinn

It was a good run. He ran third but I thought he tried very hard he raced very competitively and got beaten by two classy horses.

INTERLOCUTER (USA)

Tye Angland

It was a really nice win. He was just going so well and I didn't want to go into that pocket but I had no option. Further now wouldn't hurt. He's a nice horse.

2nd

MAPMAKER

Adam Hyeronimus

He ran well. I'm not sure who I have to speak to to get a better barrier.

3rd

IMPAVIDO

Jason Collett

Just had to bring him back early to get him to relax, once he did that he was in a bit of an awkward spot but he hit the line well.

4th

HOGMANAY

James Innes Jnr (a2)

Worked home well.

5th

DARCI'S AFFAIR (NZ)

Rachel King (a1.5)

It was good run, probably just held up for a bit too long around the turn but hit the line well.

6th

SPRING TYCOON

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Travelled well, just at the turn I got a bump when he threw things out the window. Was disappointing late but I think the interference was the cause of the performance.

7th

WALTZING WILLIE

Jon Grisedale

He had a nice lead but just wasn't good enough on the day.

8th

GOODWOOD ZODIAC (IRE)

Tim Clark

Wants another lap.

BRONZED VENOM

Brenton Avdulla

He did a good job. I was meant to be on speed but I missed the kick a bit so I ended up riding him quiet. I was on the back of Tye who was always going to take me somewhere and when we got out at the furlong he was too good. When you get one off Matt Dunn you know they are going to run well.

2nd

CASCATA ROSSA

Tye Angland

It was a good run. He was just a little bit strong the whole way and I reckon if they back him up it might help take that sting out of him.

3rd

DIA DE REYES (NZ)

Tim Clark

The start has been costly.

4th

CONFIDENTIAL

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Great run considering he was caught wide the trip. I thought he stuck on well late and wants a bit further.

5th

SOVEREIGNAIRE

Glyn Schofield

Raced well. Not much room.

6th

HALBERD

Brodie Loy

Ran really well just looking for a step up in trip.

7th

RED KNOT

Jason Collett

Raced too keen and couldn't finish off.

8th

EXACTING

Brock Ryan (a3)

He just over-raced a bit and it took its toll in the end.

9th

SCHEDULE

Kerrin McEvoy

Plain run.

10th

KISS IN THE DARK

Rachel King (a1.5)

Not a bad run probably just a little outclassed.

11th

VERBAL

Jon Grisedale

Didn't get the mile, 1400m will suit.

12th

FRISKEE ONE

Winona Costin

Disappointing.

13th

Never warmed up.

He was too good again. Travelled well in the lead and didn't give anything else a chance.

2nd

MIGHTY LUCKY

James Innes Jnr (a2)

Really strong effort.

3rd

ALL OUR ROADS (NZ)

Lee Magorrian (a3)

Really great effort first-up. He's going to improve again.

4th

SOUCHEZ

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

Great run, obviously the tempo suited the front runners and I had a bit of work to do to get there from the back and his last furlong was the best. Going to a mile will be suitable.

5th

GOT UNDERS

Blake Shinn

The horse ran super, it was a very honest performance but the ratings rise from the Cameron Handicap made it too much of a task.

6th

DUCA VALENTINOIS (IRE)

Brenton Avdulla

He ran well first-up, he just got planted. Second-up at a mile will suit.

7th

SHILLELAGH (NZ)

Tye Angland

Went very good. Quite unlucky actually.

8th

PAJARO (NZ)

Tim Clark

He'll be better suited when he gets to the mile.

9th

INVINZABEEL

Kerrin McEvoy

Just needed the run.

10th

BURNING PASSION

Glyn Schofield

He sat prominent but had no answer in the straight.

VIRIDINE

Brenton Avdulla

Enormous run. I've never had a horse pull so hard and keep going. They went very steady on speed and he didn't give himself much of a breather, I didn't get much of a breather riding him. He wasn't into a rhythm at the top of the straight and when it was time to go, as soon as I gave him a one, two he was off and going and put the race away. He's a good colt, he's just got to do the little things right. He's still learning and improving. He's got a bright future.

2nd

SINGLE BULLET

Tye Angland

He ran super, he's obviously just ran into a very smart one.

3rd

BEAU GESTE

Kerrin McEvoy

He stuck on well. He was a little out paced initially but then stuck on the last furlong. He will probably go back up to 1400m and expect him to show some more.

4th

ALBUMIN

Jason Collett

He's got a great turn of foot ridden quiet but it's either a million miles an hour or off the bridle for him at the moment, he hasn't quite found that medium.

5th

SHUDABEEN

Adam Hyeronimus

I thought it was a very good run he just ran out of condition the last 100m. If they find a race for fillies she'll be right in it.

6th

THE MIGHTY FED

Blake Shinn

He ran well, he probably wants to drop back in grade and 1400m might see a better result.

7th

CHAUFFEUR

Sam Clipperton

He was disappointing. The race probably wasn't run to suit but he was still entitled to finish closer.

ACE HIGH

Tye Angland

Went forward again today, we thought there was going to be a bit more pressure. He just had a beautiful run and I thought I would make it a staying test. I was on empty late, but the easy sectionals early that I got right paid dividends. Not many people would know I missed my brother's wedding today for this fella.

2nd

TANGLED

Blake Shinn

Great run. Pace was dictated by the leader and didn't suit my horse. But he ran a great race, full credit to the winner but with a little bit more luck he probably nearly gets him.

3rd

SULLY (NZ)

Brenton Avdulla

He ran terrific. From where he drew he got back but if he had drawn a gate he probably ends up third or fourth and probably wins the race.

4th

SANCTIONED

Kerrin McEvoy

He missed the start which had me going to plan B, we were going to go forward. He was back last and racing a little bit keen because of the steady tempo. He did a good job to run on and run fourth so a nice effort after bungling the start.

5th

ASTORIA

Glyn Schofield

Unlucky, he didn't get any cover the whole way but ran credibly.

6th

DISSOLUTION

Sam Clipperton

Just raced like a horse that's probably come to the end of his campaign. Had a lovely run, travelled well but he just seemed like a horse that's had enough.

7th

COLESBERG

Jason Collett

Good run in transit but just unable to quicken when they went.

8th

CORAL COAST

Tim Clark

She had a nice run outside the leader and eventual winner but was beaten before the turn and has possibly come to the end of her prep.

9th

SURPRISE BULLET

Larry Cassidy

Little bit tough for him today but the trip away will be the making of him later on.

10th

LANGLEY

Christian Reith

He travelled nice in the run, just probably not quite strong enough at the 10 furlongs at the moment.

DIXIE BLOSSOMS

Kerrin McEvoy

Well done by Ronny [Quinton] he got the quinella there, he's got two lovely race mares and it's just a pleasure to be on her [Dixie Blossoms] back today, she is a sweetheart to ride. The Randwick mile was perfect, Ron just said to take your time with her and just to have her comfortable and she'll finish well - he was spot on. He does a great job, he's only got a small team and he keeps producing good winner after good winner. It's very pleasing to ride one here for him today."

2nd

DAYSEE DOOM

Andrew Adkins (a0)

Top effort, she tried her heart out once again. Probably just not quite as strong as Dixie at the end of the mile her first time at it but she was only beaten three quarters of a length and she ran her top so I was very happy.

3rd

ZENALICIOUS

Tim Clark

She ran really well again but Ronnie's two mare have got the wood on her at the moment. She's going great.

4th

SAVAPINSKI (NZ)

Christian Reith

Really tough run, she's going to improve with some blinkers and probably 10 furlongs but ran really well.

5th

DENMAGIC

Winona Costin

I was really happy with her. She settled nice in the run, we got all the favours. Got the spilt down the straight and she hit the line good.

6th

DAWN WALL

Brenton Avdulla

Thought she had every chance, the winner was outside me. Just didn't really find when I asked her to. Maybe she just wants a real, real firm surface.

7th

SHAZEE LEE

Tye Angland

Actually really good. I was back, got her to relax, cut the corner, tried to sneak a few runs but I gave her a squeeze, she was picking up strong but as soon as I had to stop her momentum because there were no runs there she spat the bit and the race was over.

8th

PERFECT RHYME

Rachel King (a0)

Really good run, probably just looking for further.

9th

IMPOSING LASS (NZ)

Jason Collett

Did too much work early. It's not working for her at the moment, maybe change is needed.

10th

HETTY HEIGHTS

Larry Cassidy

Probably struggled to run the mile.

11th

MY TRUE LOVE

Glyn Schofield

She had her chance out in front, just couldn't quite sprint with them.

12th

MARIQUITA

James Innes Jnr (a0)

Typical racing pattern, went back, I was forced off the bridle a long way from home and just struggled. She's going to go the paddock now.

Every chance.

3rd

FIRSTHAND

Sam Clipperton

Will improve from the effort.

4th

PIRACY

Kerrin McEvoy

After having no cover he was just a bit vulnerable late.

5th

SAVVAN (NZ)

Tim Clark

Good return, she's come back well.

6th

CALABASAS

Andrew Adkins (a1.5)

It wasn't bad, he just wanted to race a little bit fresh. He'll improve heaps off that run.

7th

LOVE'S A FANTASY

James Innes Jnr (a2)

Got back further back than I thought but had a bad alley. Worked home ok.

8th

KING DARCI (NZ)

Courtney Van Der Werf (a3)

They were just a bit too quick first-up.

10th

ART D'AMOUR

Christian Reith

He raced ok, probably just raced a bit flat from the trip to Brisbane.

11th

JUST DREAMING

Rachel King (a1.5)

Not too bad considering she was first-up, very fresh and had a bad gate.

12th

HE'S A GIVEN

Tye Angland

Disappointing.

13th

EBENOS

Blake Shinn

Raced like he's probably looking for a bit of a spell.

14th

COLOSSEUM KING

Adam Hyeronimus

Not too bad a run just blew out the last furlong.

15th

TUDOR

Lee Magorrian (a3)

He was a bit slow away from the gates and didn't really handle the track – it's starting to chop up.
