Yankee Rose's Daughter Liberty Island Blows Them Away in Hanshin Juvenile Fillies

Mark Smith - Sunday December 11

A daughter of the dual Group 1 winner Yankee Rose (All American), Liberty Island (JPN) stamped herself the best two-year-old filly in Japan with a facile win in the Group 1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies on Sunday.

Ridden by Yuga Kawada for Mitsumasa Nakauchida, the daughter of Duramente (JPN), defeated the Satono Diamond filly Shinryokuka by a widening two and a half lengths with Rulership filly Doe Eyes a neck back in third.

Liberty Island made an exciting debut at Niigata in July before a luckless second in the Group III Artemis Stakes at Tokyo on October 29.

She is the second winner from as many foals for Yankee Rose (All American), who won the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes and Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

The first foal of Yankee Rose, the ¥210 million (A$2.54 million) Deep Impact filly Romneya broke her maiden over 1600m at Fukushima on debut in September last year.

Yankee Rose has a yearling colt by Lord Kanaloa, which sold for ¥370 million (A$4.48 million), at the JRHA Select Sale foal session.

The daughter of All American has a filly foal by Japanese Derby winner Kizuna and was covered by the champion Contrail.
