Australian Buyers Play Their Part on Day 2 of Tattersalls December Mares Sale

Quite an unbelievable session of the Tattersalls December Mares Sale with Australian buyers out in force once again and the 5,400,000gns session topper Alcohol Free heading to Australia to race.

Lot 1910 Mooneista (IRE) (Dandy Man x Moon Unit by Intikhab) Kia Ora Stud 850,000gns

Four-year-old mare Mooneista (IRE) made 21 starts in three seasons on the track, winning the Group II Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh, and Listed Woodlands Stakes at Naas. She placed a further 11 times, six in stakes races, and was fourth behind Nature Strip in the Group 1 King Stand Stakes.

Mooneista is the best of six winners out of 5-times stakes-winner Moon Unit from the family of champion Old Vic.

Lot 1876 Elizabethofaragon (IRE) (Galileo x Beltisaal by Belmez) Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock / Badgers Bloodstock 650,000.

Stakes-placed Elizabethofaragon is a sister to Group 1 Racing Post Trophy winner Kingsbarns and a half-sister to Grade III winner Sweeter Still (Rock Of Gibraltar), the dam of dual Group 1 winner Kameko (Kitten’s Joy).

Elizabethofaragon (IRE) has a positive test to Wootton Bassett (GB).

Lot 1805 Show of Stars (GB) (Showcasing x Gloryette by Raven’s Pass) Clarke Bloodstock/Sheralee Estate 300,000gns

A winner in two starts last season at two, Show of Stars has failed to increase that tally in five starts this season, but earned black-type when third in a Listed race at Gowran Park after finishing fifth in the Group 1 Irish Oaks.

Her dam Gloryette (GB) is a half-sister to dual Group III winner and Group 1 placed Elusive Pimpernel (Elusive Quality), Group III winner Palavicini Giant's Causeway) and Listed winner Prince Gagarin (Dubawi) from the family of champion Snow Fairy.

Melodic Charm (IRE) is a half-sister to the Hong Kong sensation Romantic Warrior (Acclamation), winner of the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Hong Kong Derby, and beaten once in nine starts.

Folk Melody (IRE) is the daughter of the Grade 1 EP Taylor stakes winner Folk Opera (Singspiel).

Melodic Charm (IRE) was sold with a positive test to Dark Angel.

Lot 1762 Beloved (IRE) (Frankel x Love And Bubbles by Loup Sauvage) Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock / Badgers Bloodstock 125,000gns

Placed twice in eight starts, 4yo mare Beloved is a half-sister to Japanese Derby hero Deep Brillante (Deep Impact) out of the French Group III winner Love Bubbles.

Beloved (IRE) was sold with a positive test to July Cup winner Starman (Dutch Art).  

Lot 1859 Allemande (GB) (Sea The Moon x Almiranta by Galileo) Cambridge Stud /John Foote Bloodstock 95,000gns.

Carrying the colours of Kirsten Rausing, 3yo filly Allemande (GB) placed in her first three starts before finishing an inglorious last at Wolverhampton at her most recent start.

Descending from Lanwades Stud’s magnificent Alborada family,  Allemande (GB) is a half-sister to stakes winners Alyssa (Sir Percy), Albaflora (Muhaarar),  Aloe Vera (Invincible Spirit), and Alea Iacta (Invincible Spirit), the dam of Wagga Wagga Gold Cup winner and recent ATC Cup third Aleas (Archipenko).

Lot 1706 Kings Joy (GB) (Kingman x Golden Laughter by Bernardini) Blandford Bloodstock / Annabel Neasham Racing 80,000gns.

The winner of her only start at two, Kings Joy (GB) has placed in two of three of her seven starts this year for John and Thady Gosden.

Her dam Golden Laughter is a half-sister to 2000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand and Group 1 Phoenix Stakes winner Pedro The Great from the family of Irish 2000 Guineas winner Power (GB).

1710 Nafaayes (AUS) (Exceed And Excel x Decelerator by Dehere) Twin Hills Stud 78,000gns.

Born at Kia Ora Stud, raced in South Africa and to stud in Europe, Nafaayes has transverse the globe, returning home a dual Group II winner in South Africa and twice Group 1 placed.

From the family of 4-time Grade 1 winner City Of Light out of a Grade III winner in America, Nafaayes carries a positive test to Blue Point (IRE).
