Age Shall Not Weary Him

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 24

While most 12 year-old thoroughbreds have made the transition to either an equestrian career or the breeding barn, Isorich has been soldiering on and he was back in the winner’s circle at Wyong on Thursday to the great delight of his trainer Wayne Seelin.

Isorich was bought by Seelin for $7,500 at the 2012 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale from the Attunga Stud draft and has proven to be the ultimate saleyard gift.

He broke his maiden at Wyong in April 2014 and was back in action at the same venue today scoring a long head win for Ellen Hennessy in a Benchmark 68 event over 1200m at odds of 60-1.

Stakes-placed twice earlier in his career, Isorich has had 145 starts with 16 wins and 34 placings, netting just shy of $800,000 in prizemoney and will be retired at the end of the season as per the rules of racing which deem no racing for horses over the age of 12.

Wyong Race Club were quick to Tweet the success of Isorich and his crown pleasing win!

Isorich is by the much missed Coolmore favourite Choisir from seven time winning Rustic Amber (IRE) mare A Little Naughty.
