Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 24

Only one heat for juveniles at Rosehill on Thursday morning, but the winner was a Magic Millions eligible Victorian trained daughter of Shalaa (IRE), who has become renowned for his early two year-olds so we were keen to take a closer look.

Trained by Matt Laurie, Chilled settled back in the field three wide and steamed to the line full of running to win by half a length over another promising filly in Sensory, a daughter of I Am Invincible trained by Chris Waller.

A modest $125,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Valiant Stud draft for Snippets Racing Syndications/Peter Morgan/Matt Laurie Racing, Chilled is bred to get going early being the first foal of Pierro mare Sauvignon, whose dam is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy.

Chilled as a yearling.

Shalaa had 14 juvenile winners last season, three of them stakes-winners and three more stakes-placed so it’s not hard to see why connections are no doubt thinking Magic Millions with Chilled.
