Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 4

Barrier trials at Warwick Farm on Friday featured four heats for juveniles with winners including a filly from a Golden Slipper winner and a rare grey colt by So You Think.

A full sister to last season’s Group winning 2YO Lofty Strike, who was fourth in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes last Saturday, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Snitzel filly Excess is not short of pedigree being from Group I ATC Golden Slipper winner Overreach.

She showed natural place to lead at her first outing and scored by half a length.

ined to race by Corumbene Stud as was her dam, Excess is the third living foal from Overreach, who has a yearling filly by Zoustar and was covered by Capitalist last spring.

There are very few grey progeny of the great champion So You Think, so Greyt Thinker is something different and looks to have some talent winning his first trial for the Gary Portelli stable in good style.

A $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from the KBL Thoroughbreds draft for Darby Racing, he is the first foal of Greyt Love, a 2YO winner by Denman from Group III juvenile Greytfilly, whose family features Group winners Bring Me Roses, Face Value and Diamond Earth.

Greyt Thinker is a rare eye-catching grey for So You Think.

Other winners were Tango Fever (2f More Than Ready (USA) and Sense of Humour (2c Pariah).
