Geelong Classic features the staying types testing their mettle for a shot at the Victoria Derby and it might pay to keep an eye on the Chris Waller trained maiden Ignacio, who steps up in distance and has shown potential in four Sydney runs in competitive metro maidens.

He is from the last crop of champion sire Redoute’s Choice and is from stoutly bred Japanese mare La Fouine Tail (Jpn), whose dam was Champion Japanese 3YO Filly Fabulous La Fouine and her dam Mercalle was the Champion European Older Staying Mare and won the Group I Longchamp Prix du Cadran.

Pedigree would suggest Ignacio could jump right out of the ground at his first try at a staying trip.
