Odeum Retired to Stud

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 3

Victorian bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills has bought some lovely fillies at the sales in recent years and one of the big success stories has been Written Tycoon filly Odeum, winner of the 2020 Group I MRC Thousand Guineas.

Plucked from the Newhaven Park draft for $420,000 at Magic Millions, Odeum was unraced at two, but quickly blossomed as a spring three year-old in the care of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr winning the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas at just her fourth start.

Hindsight shows it as a vintage renewal of the Guineas as she defeated subsequent Group I winners Personal and Instant Celebrity with glamour Sydney filly Hungry Heart in seventh place.

Earlier today Sheamus Mills released a Tweet announcing her retirement with Odeum heading off to stud with three wins and three seconds from just 12 starts and prizemoney just shy of $1million.

Odeum is set to head north to the Hunter Valley for a mating with Yarraman Park's reigning champion sire I Am Invincible.
