New Season 2YO Stakes Racing This Saturday – Sale Mail

A new generation of two year-olds are primed to step out this Saturday with fascinating stakes races in Sydney and Melbourne featuring the most expensive filly sold at Magic Millions this year and a smattering of runners by first season sires.

The Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m) at Flemington is for colts and fillies with the most expensive runner being I Am Invincible filly Charm Stone, who was the highest priced filly sold at Magic Millions this year when bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for $1.55million.

Bred and consigned by Emirates Park, Charm Stone is a full sister to juvenile stakes-winner Najmaty being from two time Group III winning Northern Meteor mare Najoom.

Charm Stone was the top selling filly at the Gold Coast this year.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Charm Stone has had a jump out up the Flemington straight and has Jamie Kah to ride.

Only one first season sire has representation in the race and that’s I Am Invincible’s speedy Aquis based son Santos, who is the sire of Sandual, a $45,000 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase for his trainer Andrew Bobbin.

The Group III ATC Breeders Plate (1000m) is for the colts and geldings at Randwick and most expensive runner is Exceed and Excel colt Mach Ten, a $1.2million Magic Million purchase for James Harron Bloodstock.

Trained by Michael Freedman, Mach Ten looked good winning his heat at the official trials and gate two and Tommy Berry a plus.

Mach Ten is a stunning looking colt.

Bred and sold by Fernrigg Farm at Magic Millions , Mach Ten is the first foal from imported Street Boss stakes-winner Devious Rumor (USA) and was the most expensive yearling sold in 2022 by Exceed and Excel.

Widden Stud’s Trapeze Artist holds the first season sire interest in the race and has two runners in Flying Trapeze and Snatchreilly, who both trialled well coming into this.

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds purchased the three most expensive fillies in the race and all of them won heats at the official trials.

Sicilian was bred and sold by Yarraman Park.

$650,000 Magic Millions purchase Sicilian is by I Am Invincible and is a full sibling to two winners and is the third foal from Group III placed Lonhro filly Pursuits.  She is closely related to a couple of juvenile stakes-winners in Jorda and Espaaniyah, who is also by I Am Invincible.

Platinum Jubilee was bred by Sir Owen Glenn's Go Booodstock and sold by Newgate Farm.

$600,000 Magic Millions purchase Platinum Jubilee is a half-sister by Zoustar to brilliant Group winning filly Queen of the Ball.

Perfect Proposal was bred by China Horse Club and sold by Sledmere Stud.

$420,000 Inglis Easter purchase Perfect Proposal is by Russian Revolution and comes from a fast filly family! She is a half-sister to stakes-placed Lady Sharapova and Papillon from Group III placed Encosta de Lago mare Perfect Persuasion, a full sister to Champion Filly Alinghi, who won a Blue Diamond among her four Group I wins.

First season sire action rests with Justify (USA) filly Just Gisella, who won her heat at the official trials beating Trapeze Artist filly Sky Artist, who has also accepted for this race.
