Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 23

Earlier this week we saw the first official juvenile barrier trials in Sydney and at Warwick Farm there were three more heats for the babies with winners sired by I am Invincible, Snitzel and Street Boss (USA).

The first heat went to the Bjorn Baker trained filly Rockabilly Rebel, who did everything right unlike a couple of others in this heat that missed the start badly. She led and won by nearly two lengths for Willie Pike and ran the quickest time of the three heats.

Not offered for sale and racing for her breeders, Rockabilly Rebel is a half-sister by Street Boss (USA) to good metro winner Call Me Shamus from Group II winner Text’n Hurley, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Excited Angel.

The next heat was won by the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Snitzel colt Snapback, who stalked the leader and then forged clear under a hold to win by a neck.

An $825,000 Magic Millions purchase for China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock/Trilogy Racing from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Snapback is a brother to stakes-placed Wee Nessy and is from Later Gator, a stakes-placed More Than Ready (USA) daughter of Group II winner Light up the World.

Snapback was an $825,000 Magic Millions purchase.

The final heat went to the Peter and Paul Snowden trained I Am Invincible colt King’s Gambit, who jumped well and followed tearaway leader Torre Egger, a speedy son of Blue Diamond winner Written By.

The pair drew clear of the others with King’s Gambit scoring narrowly in the China Horse Club colours over Torre Egger, who was the most expensive yearling from the first crop of Written By.

Bred by Gooree Park, who retain an interest, he runs for the Newgate / China Horse Club colts partners, but did not go through a sale. King’s Gambit is from Group III winning Encosta de Lago mare Sultry Feeling, a half-sister to Group III winner Swift Alliance.
