Ciaron Maher Buys Bounding's Curlin Filly at Keeneland

Mark Smith - Tuesday September 13

Ciaron Maher shelled out $250,000 for a daughter of Curlin out of Lonhro’s Group 1 winning daughter Bounding on the opening day of the Keeneland September yearling Sale.

Curlin x Bounding filly

Consigned by Denali Stud, the Stonestreet bred and raised filly is a sister to a colt that made $4,100,000 to the bid of Godolphin in the same ring in 2019.

Named Aussie Pride he has won a mile and a half maiden at Keeneland in April for trainer Bill Mott.

Stonestreet retained Bounding’s War Front filly named Lolloping. The Brad Cox-trained filly won on debut at Fairgrounds in February but has failed in four subsequent stats.

The winner of the Group I ARC Railway Handicap in New Zealand, Bounding was bought by Stonestreet Holdings for $1.9 million at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when she was offered by Willow Park Stud.

Bounding is a half-sister to the ill-fated Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck (IRE) (Galileo) out of Exceed And Excel’s Group III winning daughter Believe'N'succeed.

The Street Cry (IRE) mare Achieved, a half-sister to Bounding and Anthony Van Dyck (IRE) had an American Pharoah (USA) filly that was a $240,000 R.N.A at the opening session.
