38 and Counting!

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 9

Earlier today we ran a story highlighting a double of new stakes-winners for Dubawi – Mimikyu and Kubrick - on Thursday, but the real story is the stallion himself, who has sired 38 stakes-winners worldwide this year!

Dubawi is on track for a personal best year and those 38 stakes-winners are highlighted by six Group I winners in five different countries – ill-fated Coroebus (UK), Naval Crown (UK), Rebel’s Romance (Germany), In Italian (USA), Modern Games (France) and Lord North (UAE).

Dubawi is powering through 2022.

Last year, Dubawi also sired 38 stakes-winners, but that was for the whole year and with nearly three months to run he may well add to the tally in 2022.

In 2020, he sired 24 stakes-winners in total and in 2019 he also had 38.

Dubawi shuttled to Australia for three seasons at the start of his career and produced Group I winners Srikandi, Secret Admirer, Shamal Wind, Tiger Tees and Willow Magic from those crops, but Australian breeders now have access to two of his very best sons in Too Darn Hot (GB) and Ghaiyyath (IRE).

Too Darn Hot was a show-stopper at the recent Darley stallion parade at Kelvinside and will have his first yearlings selling in 2023, while Ghaiyyath is back in Victoria for his second season for Darley after covering over 100 mares last spring.

At age 20, Dubawi is at the height of his powers with 75.8% winners to runners and 16% stakes-winners to runners with his current crop of two year-olds already producing 18 winners including four stakes-winners.
