Dominant Guineas Win for Vanbrugh Filly

Media Release - Tuesday September 6

The Encosta de Lago sireline has been on fire over the past month with stakes-winners for Zoustar, Deep Field, Rubick and also New Zealand based Vanbrugh, who stands at Windsor Park Stud.

Vanbrugh filly Sheez Dominant lived up to her name in the Wanganui Guineas on Saturday winning the Listed feature in impressive fashion at just her third start.

Sheez Dominant wins the Wanganui Guineas.
Bred by Windsor Park Stud, the second crop daughter of Gr.1 winner Vanbrugh (Encosta de Lago) from the Rip Van Winkle mare Crookshanks, was able to gain a stakes win in her first start as a 3YO having shown much promise as a 2YO.

Trainer Fraser Auret was full of praise for the smart filly.

“She’s a filly we have held in high regard from day one, she showed big talent as a 2YO and we have her nominated for the 1000 Guineas so we will map a path towards there.

“She seems to have good stamina and that was evident today as she was very strong at the finish off the back of a pretty limited preparation so it augurs well for the future”.

From limited numbers Vanbrugh has also sired other notable young performers including multiple Group placed Mustang Valley, Melbourne city winner Miss Balvenie (winner of 3 races from 5 starts), Telecaster, The Big Heist, Elle Mcfearsome and Wild Night, a highly regarded 3YO colt from the leading Te Akau Racing stable.
Vanbrugh is a G1 winning son of Encosta de Lago.

From just 22 starters Sheez Dominant became the 10th individual winner for her sire who also boasts impressive Australian statistics of 8 starters for 5 winners.

Standing at Windsor Park Stud, Vanbrugh is an impressive looking individual whose 2022 service fee has been confirmed at $6,000 + GST.
