All Eyes on Black Caviar Colt

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 5

All eyes will be on Moe race two this afternoon where Peter Moody will unveil the latest offspring of his former undefeated champion mare Black Caviar.

Black Caviar is yet to produce anything special as a broodmare, but an impressive trial win at Traralgon back in May has punters keen to support three year-old I Am Invincible colt I am Caviar, who has been posted a short priced favourite for the 1000m maiden.

Black Caviar has had six named foals so far and four have raced to produce three modest winners.

Her first four foals to race are now all at stud with three fillies visiting leading sires, while her son Prince of Caviar stands at Riverbank Farm at a fee of $4,400.

By Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring, Prince of Caviar has  covered over 90 mares in his first two seasons and given the success of sires from this female family such as All Too Hard and Magnus, he might be a surprise packet for his supporters.

Her three daughters Oscietra (Exceed and Excel), Out of Caviar (Snitzel) and Ready for Caviar (More Than Ready (USA) are all at stud.

Oscietra has had three colts, two by I Am Invincible and one by Churchill (IRE), but will have no foal this spring after missing to Street Boss (USA).

Out of Caviar has a filly by I Am Invincible, a colt by Toronado (IRE) and was covered late last spring by I Am Invincible.

Ready for Caviar is expecting her first foal after being covered by Snitzel.

I Am Caviar as a foal in 2019.

Black Caviar has just turned 16 and missed last year so will have no foal this year, but does have a yearling filly by Written Tycoon, who is a sister-in-blood to dual Group I winner Ole Kirk, who has been super popular at Vinery Stud with his first foals arriving this spring.
