Future Blue Hen?

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 5

One of the most interesting foals added to the Breednet Foal Gallery last week was from star producer Baggy Green, who changed hands earlier this year in the Valachi Downs Dispersal Sale on Gavelhouse when she was snaffled by Yulong for $NZ1.75million.

The 14 year-old daughter of Galileo is best known as the dam of four time Group I winner Tofane and is also a sibling to Group I winners Funstar and Youngstar.

She was offered in foal to Tofane’s sire Ocean Park and produced this lovely filly at Waikato Stud.

Waikato Stud Tweeted this image of Baggy Green with her Ocean Park filly last week.

Baggy Green is also the dam of Group III winner No Compromise and Group I ATC Australian Derby runner-up Benaud, who both contested the Group II ATC Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick last Saturday.

No Compromise won the Group III ATC Manion Cup during the autumn and looms as a lightweight Cups prospect as does Benaud.

They finished third and fourth respectively and look to have come back well in preparation for ambitious spring goals that may see one or both end the season as Group I winners.
