The release of entries for the Group I Caulfield Guineas and Thousand Guineas has added plenty of interest to competitive maiden events which are often the first stepping off point for potential contenders, so let’s take a look at the runners today that hold entries.
Sandown is packed with interest starting with the first race where blue-blood I Am Invincible filly Waltz on By runs for the first time out of Black Type company. The Peter Moody trained daughter of Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Stay With Me has run well previously without winning in tough company and gets the opportunity break the ice in maiden class.
In the second race, Godolphin have the favoruite Moko, who was three times stakes-placed last season. From the first crop of Impending, she’s from stakes-winning Dubawi mare Zubbaya.
Also watch for Merchant Navy filly Red Duster, who ran well without winning as favourite on debut earlier this month and can improve.
The Warwick Farm 3YO maiden also features plenty of contenders with Hungry Heart’s half-sister Beautiful Heart probably ready to win in race one, while her stablemate Cabaca is a watch horse.
The half-sister by Fastnet Rock to outstanding New Zealand two time Group I winning filly Imperatriz, Cabaca showed enough in two starts back in June to be very optimistic about her prospects.
Cabaca was a $300,000 Magic Millions purchase for Magic Bloodstock from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft.
