Pedigree Watch – France – No Nay Never 2YO’s on Fire

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 21

The Scat Daddy sireline has had plenty of success this year with No Nay Never enjoying a remarkable run with his juveniles which continued at Deauville on Sunday with the Group I Prix Morny (1200m) won by his brilliant colt Blackbeard.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien for the Coolmore partners, Blackbeard was ridden by Ryan Moore and tipped out race favourite Persian Force to win by half a length.

Blackbeard has had a busy two year-old season starting seven times for five wins and he’s not done yet.

“Blackbeard is obviously very speed orientated, he might get further but he has a lot of speed. Obviously he would have the option to come back for the 7f Group I (Lagardere) or the Middle Park so I think all those races are options for him,” said Aidan O'Brien,

Bought for 270,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2020, Blackbeard is the first winner for Born to Sea winner Muirin, a daughter of Group III winner Gioruette.

Blackbeard is the fifth Group I winner for Scat Daddy’s Group I winning son No Nay Never and is his second Group I winning 2YO this year joining another Coolmore trained and owned colt in Little Big Bear.

No Nay Never sired a Group winning double of two year-old winners on Saturday at the Curragh with Meditate winning the Group II Debutante Stakes and Aesops Fable winning the Group II Futurity Stakes.

He has sired five stakes-winning juveniles this year with his 2020 foal crop conceived in 2019 when his service fee was lifted to €100,000. No Nay Never stood this year at a fee of €125,000 at Coolmore Ireland.

No Nay Never

No Nay Never shuttled to Coolmore Australia for four seasons with his last crop of foals born here two year-olds this season.
