Claudia McDougall joins Yulong Stud

Media Release - Thursday August 18

Yulong Investments is excited to announce the appointment of Claudia McDougall to the position of Nominations, Sales and Marketing Executive at Yulong Stud, to join the team led by Troy Stephens.

A UK native, Claudia spent seven years at Darley Europe in their Newmarket base, five of those as a nominations and sales executive, and brings a wealth of experience to the team. Before that Claudia gained an excellent grounding at some of the UK’s other leading stud farms, including with Luca & Sara Cumani at their Fittocks Stud.

She has made the move to Australia with her partner, Gareth, who takes up the position of Head of Stallions. Having worked with some of Europe’s best stallions and bloodstock, Claudia says she is excited to do the same in Australia.

“It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining Yulong, certainly part of the attraction was the massive level of investment they’ve made in the Australian industry and their goal to become the country’s leading stallion farm,” McDougall said, adding: “On my first tour of Yulong I was blown away by the scale, quality of stock and professionalism of the operation.”

“We’re delighted to have Claudia joining our team, and I look forward to working with her as she brings a wealth of experience with her impressive international CV,” said Yulong Nominations and Sales Manager, Troy Stephens.

Based in north-eastern Victoria, Yulong’s stallion roster boasts former Australian Champion General Sire Written Tycoon, plus a host of emerging talents such as Grunt, Alabama Express, Tagaloa and Lucky Vega.

“With a range of stallions, from a Champion to Group 1 winners awaiting their first runners, it’s a fantastic time to join and I can’t wait for what’s to come in the next few years,” said McDougall.

Claudia’s European knowledge means she is all too familiar with Northern Hemisphere stars, such as Yulong’s Lucky Vega whose first foals are hitting the ground this spring.

“With my background in the UK, it’s really positive to see Yulong exploiting Europe’s top bloodlines by securing a horse like Lucky Vega. He provides a potent outcross in Australia through his sire Lope De Vega, a proven source of high-class performers when combined with the native Danehill-line mares”

Claudia’s appointment follows a year of unprecedented investment by Yulong in the Australian racing and breeding industry, with significant development of facilities, a growing number of mares and a star-studded stallion roster.
