The first official two year-old trials in Australia for the new season were held at Deagon in Queensland on Tuesday morning with astute trainer Les Ross providing all the runners which included a filly from the first crop of Aquis based sire Performer.
Mishani Star was the winner of the first heat run over 650m, while Jet Spur Mishani Raider won the second.
Given little more than an educational gallop, Mishani Star strode clear to win by nearly two lengths.
Les Ross had plenty of early success last season with the progeny of another young Aquis sire in The Mission and will no doubt be hoping for similar success with this daughter of Performer, who was a fast precocious juvenile that won the Listed ATC Breeders Plate on debut and later the Group III ATC Canonbury Stakes.
By champion sire Exceed and Excel, Performer covered over 100 mares in his first season including Mishani Star’s dam Mishani Nefertiti, whose first two foals are both winners.
Performer stands at a fee of $6,600.
