Wandabaa headlines unique Australian Bloodstock offerings via Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday July 27

A trio of well bred, well performed Australian Bloodstock mares will be offered in a bespoke Inglis Digital Online Auction next month.

Group winner and eight-time Stakes placed Wandabaa (Wandjina), Stakes winner Enchanted Heart (Shamus Award) and the Group placed 5YO Lunakorn (Puissance de Lune) will all be offered for unreserved sale on August 16 and 17.

Wandabaa - an eight-time winner and 15-time placegetter - has won just shy of $1m in prizemoney to date having been purchased as a yearling at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

A half sister to brilliantly fast Stakes winner Malkovich and $800,000 Inglis Chairman’s Sale mare Seewhatshebrings, Wandabaa began her racing days in style, remaining undefeated as a 2YO from two starts.

She returned a winner as a spring 3YO and developed into a fantastic race mare, winning at two, three, four and five.

Arguably her best performance was when finishing second to star sprinter Lost And Running in the $1m The Hunter last November.

Wandabaa  – who has beaten the likes of Tofane, Kementari, Espiona, Nimalee, Fiesta, Sweet Deal, Subpoenaed, Signore Fox, Vangelic etc - remains in work for trainer Kris Lees, having trialled as recently as last week, and is set to have her swansong in the G2 Missile Stakes at Randwick on August 6.

“There’s so much upside in the family, Wandabaa is out of a terrific mare in Mabkhara, is a half sister to multiple Stakes performers, Mabkhara will go to I Am Invincible this season, it’s just such a current family that somebody or some people will be getting into with her,’’ Australian Bloodstock’s Jamie Lovett said.

“Wandabaa has been nothing but brave her whole career. She’s a winner, she has an abundance of speed with a front-running racing style and she was very unlucky not to win some really big races.

“She’s being sold on the eve of the breeding season and presents a fabulous opportunity to domestic and international breeders to buy a sound, talented, well-bred mare to send to a stallion on an early cover if they so choose.’’

Enchanted Heart is an eight-time winner from just 26 starts, including the Listed Takeover Target Stakes over 1200m.

She is entered to run at Rosehill on Saturday and should she again perform admirably, could also contest the G2 Missile Stakes early next month.

“Not many horses can win eight races but she’s managed that from not a huge amount of starts, she’s a Stakes winner by a stallion that can do no wrong, she’s really very appealing,’’ Lovett said.

“She’s also very sound, has a lovely profile and is going really well in the stables so it wouldn’t surprise at all if she adds to her already impressive record before she sells.’’

Lunakorn is a dual city winner who would be “very easy to breed to’’, says Lovett.

“She’s a Shamardal-line mare by Puissance de Lune from a lovely family, she’s very correct and presents lots of options to breeders,’’ Lovett said of Lunakorn, who also finished third behind three-time Group winner Rich Hips in the G3 Mannerism Stakes.

“For any breeder looking for an outcross, she’d be a lovely mare to breed to.’’

Inglis Digital’s Business Manager Nick Melmeth added: “We’re thrilled to be offering these mares on behalf of Jamie, Luke and the Australian Bloodstock team and they will no doubt all appeal to a wide range of breeders and investors.

“The new breeding season is only weeks away and it’s rare that breeding prospects of this quality appear on the open market, so they represent a fantastic opportunity.”

All three mares will be available for inspection at Kris Lees’ Newcastle stables, while videos and photos of the trio will be available on the Inglis website leading into the sale.

To organise an inspection, contact Sebastian Hutch on 0423 770 854.

The Inglis Digital August Boutique Sale will open for bidding at 9am on Tuesday August 16, with bidding closing from 4pm the following day, Wednesday August 17.
