Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

The Canterbury trials for Friday were switched to Warwick Farm to be run on the polytrack and the juveniles were out in force with eight heats won by two year-olds including an I Am Invincible filly shooting to become the tenth winner from her blue hen dam.

Trained by Chris Waller for Orbis Bloodstock, I Am Invincible filly Ravisher never went through a sale ring, but if she had would undoubtedly have made plenty of money being a half-sister to Group winners Lite‘n in My Veins, Written Beauty, Hi World and stakes-winners Ducimus and Loveyamadly, the dam of two more stakes-winners in Immortal Love and I’m Lovin’ya.

Ravisher was having her first public trial and was ridden quietly early by James McDonald before steaming home down the outside under a hold to win by half a length.

 

Ravisher’s dam Beauty World is turning 21 this year and missed when covered by North Pacific last spring, but she does have a weanling colt by Deep Field.

Team Hawkes obviously have a good opinion of Zoustar filly Seiryu who started twice last preparation in Group races at her only runs in the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude and the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes.

She failed to fire either time, but has to be showing something to warrant running her against the better fillies and she did look like a nice filly in this heat winning comfortably for Willie Pike.

A $220,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Hawkes Racing from the Yulong draft, she runs in the colours of Alan Bell and is the first foal of Longmu, a winning Sebring daughter of stakes-winner Hooness.

Another Zoustar filly to impress was the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Celestial Spirit, who looked very professional at her second trial this time in work to win by two lengths over Beautiful Heart.

While the winner had had three starts including a debut win at Scone last December and has good racecraft and fitness levels, the runner-up was having her first trial and the half-sister to multiple Group I winner Hungry Heart did enough for us to add her to the Black Book.

 

A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Laurel Oak/Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott Racing, Celestial Spirit has not run since finishing eighth in the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes to She’s Extreme.

Bred on the same cross as the previous Zoustar winner Seiryu, Celestial Spirit is from Group III placed Sebring mare Positive Problems.

Other heat winners were: Global Deel (Dundeel), Ring Ahoy (Sebring), Boy Loves to Run (Wrote (IRE), Mutafiq (I Am Invincible), Another Cognac (Zoustar).
