A fast and precocious juvenile that won the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) in the spring and was fourth in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, Finance Tycoon was also a dominant winner of the $1million MRC Showdown Stakes (1200m) for Victorian bred juveniles.

Finance Tycoon clocked a blistering 1:08.91 seconds that day putting him up with the quickest juveniles to compete over that course in recent years.

His close fourth in the Blue Diamond further proved his quality with the first three home in that sire making race being Artorius, who will run as one of the favourites in the Group I July Cup this weekend, Ingratiating and the mighty Anamoe.

“Physically, he is an amazing looking horse. He is big, strong and he’s got a lovely temperament. You can only hope and dream that he could replicate half what his dad has achieved and away we go,” said Glen Eden studmaster Rory O’Brien.

On the score of female pedigree, Finance Tycoon comes from a serious stallion’s family with his third dam Silk Lilly a half-sister to legendary matriarch Fanfreluche, whose descendants include champion sires Flying Spur, Encosta de Lago and more recently Russian Revolution.

Lifetime breeding rights in Finance Tycoon will also be available after Glen Eden’s Rory O’Brien finalised a deal this week with the young stallion’s Hong Kong-based owner, who will support him with 20 plus mares this spring.

Finance Tycoon will stand at a fee of $13,200 this spring making him an affordable option for more budget conscious breeders that are fans of his sire, who stands at Yulong at a fee of $165,000.

Glen Eden Stud was the former home of Golden Slipper winner Fireburn’s sire Rebel Dane, who has been relocated to Widden Stud, but the farm is still home to Yulong Prince (SAfr), Palentino and Trust in a Gust.
