Entries Open for Gavelhouse Plus Online Broodmare Sale

Entries are now open for the 2022 National Online Broodmare Sale, set to be held on Gavelhouse Plus for the second year.

Entries are due online by 10PM on Thursday 7 July and the catalogue will be released at 5PM on Friday 8 July. Bidding will open at 10AM on Monday 18 July and is set to close on Wednesday 20 July from 7PM.

In recent years, the appetite for premium online stock has increased substantially as evidenced in the multiple million-dollar earning auctions hosted on Gavelhouse Plus. New Zealand broodmares are well respected in the Australian market, with strong demand anticipated for quality mares entered. Here are some examples of just a few standout mares offered on Gavelhouse Plus recently:

Baggy Green sold for $1.75 million

Offered as a part of the Valachi Downs Breeding Stock Dispersal, Baggy Green (Galileo) realised $1,750,000 last week, selling to Yulong’s Written Tycoon Syndicate. 

Nine-time Group One winner Avantage (Fastnet Rock) fetched a whopping $4.1 million when selling to Tom Magnier of global breeding giant Coolmore via Gavelhouse Plus in September 2021, establishing a world record for any horse sold online.

Savabeel mare Yearn (NZ) was offered on Gavelhouse Plus by Lupton Bloodstock in the inaugural National Broodmare Sale in 2021. She was purchased for $195,000 by Ben Kwok’s Lionrock Bloodstock. 

Run under gavelhouse.com terms and conditions, a cost-effective entry fee has been set at $400 plus GST with a 5% commission rate and no pass in fees. 

Vendors and owners wishing to put forward their mares in the National Online Broodmare Sale can enter their horses here, with entries closing Thursday 7 July and the catalogue launching on Friday 8 July.
