Debut Winners for Justify and Saxon Warrior

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 18

High profile Coolmore shuttle sires Justify (USA) and Saxon Warrior (Jpn) both posted impressive debut winners in the Northern Hemisphere on Friday.

Triple Crown hero Justify landed his third winner on Friday in the US when promising filly Just Cindy made a winning debut at Churchill Downs.

A homebred for Clarkland Farm prepared by Eddie Kenneally, Just Cindy was a little slow from the gates and settled behind the leaders before surging to the line to win the 5 ½ f juvenile maiden by two and a half lengths.

Just Cindy is the first winner from stakes-winner Jenda’s Agenda, a half-sister to stakes-winner Miss Alacrity from Group II winner Just Jenda. It’s a big Black Type family with Champion 2YO Colt and Kentucky Derby winner Nyquisit and Group I winner Sahara Sky also on the page.

She becomes the third winner from just seven runners for Justify joining Tahoma and Statuette.

Justify will have his first Australian runners next season and they are already appearing in our leading stables as they progress from being broken in after the yearling sales this year where they sold for up to $1million.

Justify returns to Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $55,000.

Also set to have his first Australian runners next season, exciting young Deep Impact  stallion Saxon Warrior had his second winner at Newmarket in the UK on Friday when talented colt Killybegs Warrior scored on debut at Newmarket.

Trained by Charlie and Mark Johnston, Killybegs Warrior raced on the pace in the 7f maiden and was much too good for the short priced favourite Self Praise, drawing clear to win by a length and a half.

Bought by Johnston Racing for 50,000 euros at Goffs Orby, Killybegs Warrior is a half-brother to stakes-placed Ventura Knight and is the fifth winner from Alltherightmoves, a half-sister to stakes-winners Alboostan and Crown of Light.

Killybegs Warrior is the second winner for Saxon Warrior, whose first Australian yearlings were well received selling for up to $400,000.
