One to Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 24

So You Think is the sire of exciting 2YO Political Debate, who is unfortunately only a fourth emergency for the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes on Saturday, but another of his 2YO’s showed potential on Tuesday breaking the ice at Hawkesbury.

David Payne produced progressive gelding Monastery to score a half length win in the 1400m maiden at his fourth start.

orse that will take time to fill out his frame, Monastery was a modest $35,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase for his trainer from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft.

Monastery as a yearling

Bred by GSA Bloodstock, he is the first winner for unraced Redoute’s Choice mare Rekindled Glow, a three-quarter sister to Group I winner and promising young sire Alabama Express.

Rekindled Glow was on-sold last year and picked up by Yulong under their Written Tycoon Syndicate for $80,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Monastery is the 36th winner from 45 starters for the So You Think x Redoute’s Choice nick that runs at 80% winners to runners and has produced Group I winners D’Argento, Inference, Group II winner Faskika and rising star Illation.
