Penelope Crowley Joins Aquis

Media Release - Tuesday May 3

Aquis Operations and Aquis Farm are pleased to announce the appointment of Penelope (Penny) Crowley to the role of Nominations.

Penny joins the team with an impressive resume spanning 25 years of industry experience and knowledge passed on to her from some of the best mentors in the horse industry.

Her resume is extensive and includes stints at some of Australia’s leading nurseries, Attunga Farm, Cressfield Stud, Glenlogan Farm and Twin Palms where she managed to hone her skills, particularly in relation to conformation traits and pedigree analysis.

Penny was born into the horse industry with her family having an interest in racing, this naturally led to a desire to take up horse riding and eventually competitive show jumping and dressage.  Penny quickly worked out her future was horses.

“I left school and took a role working at Belcam Warmblood Stud at Biddaddaba, here I prepared young horses under saddle for their annual auction for a number of years before taking a job at Glenlogan Farm with Peter Keating,” Penny revealed.

“I have been fortunate in my career to date to have some seriously good mentors, many of whom gave me confidence to excel in this industry, I quickly progressed into management roles at leading farms in the Hunter Valley and also started my own boutique breeding venture."

Bandersnatch was bred by Penny Crowley and has won over $700,000 in prizemoney - image Steve Hart.

That breeding venture has acheieved notable success with quality stakes-winner Bandersnatch pictured above being bred by Penny Crowley.

“The knowledge I have gained from all those farms I have put into practice with my own breeding and I've managed to breed a stakes winner, Bandersnatch for Team Hawkes, he’s won just over $700,000, that’s pretty amazing!” she said.

‘’I have also dabbled in pinhooking with great success, my success here is based purely on what I have learnt over the years, two of my highlight horses that I have found are Phobetor, a Gr.2 winner and Property, a multiple stakes winning 2YO.

“With my role at Aquis I am very confident I can help breeders find success; our stallion roster is incredibly strong!  We have a stallion for every budget, from our champion Pierata (first foals selling this year), the super fast and very well bred Dubious (first foals selling this year), and proven stallions like Divine Prophet who has this year left two serious 2YO’s in See You in Heaven and Promitto.

“We also have a new boy for this year in the Gr.1 Manikato Stakes winner Jonker, he is a beast and really excites all of us on the farm, we feel he will click with a wide range of pedigrees given the depth of his own female family.”

Hoof note: Penny has started with Aquis and is currently at the Inglis Weanling Sale, she is available to talk about your breeding plans for this year and beyond.

Penny can be contacted on 0427 857 788 or penelope@aquisfarm.com
