Racenet lays for Grand Final weekend

Breednet - Friday September 29

It's Grand Final weekend so plenty to try and focus on and the Racenet analysts have put their heads together to give punters another tool to help them turn a profit with the Racenet lays of the day.

Below are the favoured runners that the Racenet men have discounted as winning chances on the weekend.

SHE WILL REIGN

$3.80

Last start Golden Slipper Stakes winner but this will be a lot different. The one positive thing in her favour is the weight however, she has drawn wide, is up against some fit and in form older sprinters and racing under lights at Moonee Valley for the first time following a trip from Sydney during the week. She could, of course, be an exceptional filly but she will need to be to win in our opinion.

HAPPY CLAPPER

$2.60

Our confidence has taken a little hit with the scratching of Egg Tart however, still some compelling reasons to oppose the favourite. He could well have had his heart broken by Winx last start and his trainer Pat Webster is on record saying he was not as happy with the horse out of that race. The Winx effect has impacted on Red Excitement and Foxplay at their subsequent starts and with Happy Clapper likely to be pretty short, there is enough to stop us from charging in.

ROYAL SYMPHONY

$1.85

Yes, we know he's unbeaten and looked like Phar Lap winning last start at Flemington. This is the strongest opposition he has met and, while he is sure to have taken good benefit from his last start he is staying at 1400m and Tony McEvoy has made no secret the Caulfield Guineas is his grand final. In a field that includes two Group I winners he is also giving weight away to most of his rivals. If he is the Caulfield Guineas winner then he will be winning this but at odds-on we think there are better bets at the weekend.

Sunshine Coast

MR EPIC

$3.50

Won or placed six of his last seven starts so understandably favourite. Likes to race on speed and there are a couple in this that like to do the same. He's earned his topweight but even with the claim he's giving away plenty of weight to some of those down the bottom of the handicap and if it's a truly run race it might leave him vulnerable.

Morphettville

6

HUSSYBAY

$2.50

A small field and looks a trappy race with a few chances. Even sort of run first-up and while he drops in weight is up in class. Drawn in barrier two which might not be the best place for him, even with Jamie Kah in the saddle. He's a chance for sure but at these odds we don't want to try and find out.

Belmont

TAKE IT LIKE A MAN

$3

Been up a while and beaten in similar class race last start. Likely to go back from a wide draw and the main chances in the race all look to be finishers so he will need luck. The booking of W. Pike simply means he's a couple of points under to start with so we're happy to take him on at the price.
