Novara Park Announce 2022 Fees

Media Release - Monday May 2

Novara Park are looking forward to the upcoming breeding season where What’s The Story will join the farm’s established stallion roster that includes, Sweynesse, Staphanos, and King Of Comedy.

“Novara are always looking at offering upside and value for money to breeders. Our stallion line-up offers breeders the best bloodlines in the world, while our fees give our clients affordability,” Novara Park principal Luigi Muollo said.

Sweynesse

Sweynesse, a New Zealand leading first season sire, has continued with strong results in New Zealand and overseas and will stand for an unchanged service fee of $9,000+GST.

Dragon Queen joined his growing list of stakes winning progeny when winning the Gr.2 Westbury Classic (1400m) at Ellerslie in January, joining previous stakes-winners Bonita Aurelia, Only Words and Brix.

Sweynesse is also enjoying success in Asia, with promising horses like Lucky Sweynesse, who is unbeaten in three Hong Kong starts.

“The most appropriate gauge of a stallion's success is undoubtedly the stakes winners to runners ratio and certainly as a young stallion Sweynesse has outstanding statistics,” Muollo said.

“10.3 percent of Sweynesse’s fillies are stakes winners. Only Savabeel is ahead of him in New Zealand.”

Staphanos has made a big impression at the recent yearling sales series with his first crop and he was the leading New Zealand first season sire by average at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Book 1 Yearling Sale.

The impressive son of Deep Impact, and the highest stake earner at stud in New Zealand, will stand at an unchanged fee of $7,000 +GST.

“The first yearlings by Staphanos have been well received by the buyers at Karaka,” Muollo said.

“They are balanced, have excellent scope, and importantly they come with that Deep Impact quality. His yearlings that were on display at Karaka will certainly convince breeders to send a mare to him.”

King of Comedy stood his first season at stud last year and served a quality book of mares.

By Kingman (by Invincible Spirit), one of the hottest names in European bloodstock circles, King Of Comedy was at one point rated the best three-year-old in Europe.

“Kingman is the only European stallion to cover over 300 stakes winners in the 2019-21 seasons,” Muollo said.

“He is the best young stallion in Europe. I Am Invincible is the hottest stallion in Australia.

“King Of Comedy has the looks, pedigree and racetrack performance to be a hit at stud. He could be a real game changer and just the type of stallion New Zealand needs.”

King Of Comedy will stand at an unchanged fee of $7,000 +GST.

What’s The Story relocates to Novara Park for the upcoming season on the back of the great promise shown by his progeny.

What's the Story

“His progeny look like Savabeel’s progeny. They are doing this all on raw ability and we are looking forward to their three-year-old year,” Muollo said.

The son of Champion sire Savabeel will stand at a fee of $4,000+GST.

Muollo was also positive regarding the future and recent yearling sales series.

“All our young stallions have proven bloodlines that are recognised by our major markets in the sales ring and on the track,” he said.

“It is a common characteristic of almost all great sires that the layout of their pedigrees gives them every chance of finding something to combine well with in a wide variety of mares.

“Our stallions have a wide choice of patterns and sex-balanced concentrations which should afford very many broodmares to be suited to them for many differing reasons.”
