Little known Shadwell stallion Awtaad was the subject of a Breednet story last month when he sired two winners at Canterbury on the one day in Waterford (IRE) and Diamil (IRE) and he made it three Australian winners from three Australian runners when his four year-old daughter Zumoradda (IRE)saluted at Bendigo.
Having her first Australian start for the Lindsay Park team of Ben and JD Hayes, Zumoradda was favourite for the 1300m maiden and led all the way to win by a neck in a tenacious display.
JD Hayes was full of praise for the lightly raced mare, who had placed five times without winning when trained in Ireland by Dermot Weld.
Zumoradda was a 50,000 guineas purchase for Blandford Bloodstock from the Tattersalls August Horses in Training Sale last year where she was offered in the Shadwell Dispersal.
Zumoradda is the second winner from Raven’s Pass mare Mesadah, an unraced daughter of Group III winner Albisola.
Zumoradda is from the first crop of Shadwell Stud bred and raced Group I winning miler Awtaad, a son of Cape Cross that stands at Derrinstown Stud in Ireland at a fee of 5,000 euros.
From limited numbers Awtaad has done a pretty promising job siring six stakes-winners from 105 runners headed by Group III winner Creative Belief.
