She's taken a while but
beautifully bred Fastnet Rock filly State Of Play broke the maiden stylishly at
Hawkesbury on Thursday and with an Oaks nomination in play could she be the
next big addition to her big family?.
Trained by Gerald Ryan she'd been slowly getting there,
finishing second last start at her fourth outing and the rise to 2000m did the
trick this time, winning by three lengths.
It's one of the strongest families in the studbook, also boasting the likes of Joie Denise and Tuesday Joy and in large has been closely held by Singleton with offspring invariably bringing the big dollars when one is produced in the sale ring.
It's a long way from a Hawkesbury maiden to winning an Oaks but she's obviously heading the right way and a rapidly improving three year-old filly should never be under-estimated.
The timing is certainly in place.
