Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 12

There was stakes racing at Newmarket in the UK overnight with three interesting races for 3YO colts, 3YO fillies, the Group III Earl of Sefton Stakes (1m1f) won by Godolphin’s Master of the Seas, who has been gelded, plus a Derby possible for The Queen.

Second in the Group I Two Thousand Guineas last year after winning the Group III Craven Stakes, Master of the Seas returned in great order racing as a gelding for the first time to win by a length and a quarter.

By Dubawi from a half-sister to Godolphin’s top class Australian performer Cascadian (winner of last year’s G1 Doncaster Handicap) Master of the Seas appeals as a potential candidate for Godolphin in Australia.

Group I placed last season, 3YO filly Cachet was scoring her first stakes win at her first run of the year when taking out the Group III Nell Gwyn Stakes (7f) by two and a half lengths. She is the first stakes-winner for her young sire, whose oldest progeny are 3YO's.

New Science is a progressive 3YO for Godolphin. A Listed winner last season, he was having his second run this year after a third at Meydan in February and won the Listed European Free Handicap (7f)..

Entered for the Epsom Derby and Dante Stakes, the Queen’s blueblood Deep Impact colt Educator started his classic season with a hard fought win over 1m2f in a handicap race. He had three starts last season for a win and a second and is bred to stay all day.
