Juvenile Trial Watch – Doomben

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 12

The most expensive filly by Spirit of Boom stepped out for the first time in public at the Doomben trials on Tuesday morning and duly produced a stylish win.

Trained by Tony Gollan, Bezique was a $475,000 Magic Millions purchase for Black Soil Bloodstock/John Foote Bloodstock/Gollan Racing from the Strawberry Hill Stud draft and runs in the Isotope colours.

She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Eawase and is from former brilliant Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Karuta Queen, who was also a Group III winner and finished second to Black Caviar in a Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes.

Another great type from Karuta Queen, Bezique is the most expensive yearling filly sired by Spirit of Boom.

Karuta Queen has been a very profitable producer for Strawberry Hill with her previous yearling before Bezique, a filly by Written Tycoon, selling for $1.5million at Magic Millions and her Zoustar filly this year selling for $950,000.

With the Brisbane Winer Carnival just around the corner there were plenty of quality 2YO’s in action with additional heat winners as follows: Shotgun Diva (All Too Hard), Roll Up (Zoustar), Minks Star (Star Witness), Holtermann (Sooboog) and Majorelle (Zoustar),
