Debut Hong Kong Winner for Rich Enuff

Breednet - Sunday April 10

Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff had a promising debut winner at Sha Tin on Sunday down the straight 1000m.

Wonderful Warrior was a heavily backed short priced favourite off the back of impressive barrier trials and fought bravely under Joao Moreira after racing on pace throughout to hold off the fast finishing Flying High.

Wonderful Warrior as a yearling

“He’s a nice horse. If they can win their first start, they’re obviously a chance to get into Class 3 and be competitive,” winning trainer Caspar Fownes said.

“In my mind, I always thought he’d be a horse who could hit 80 points, obviously he’s a long way off that, but hopefully we can just get him there with each progression.”

Wonderful Warrior is out of the Bel Esprit mare Neon Bel and was initially offered at the Inglis Premier Showcase Session by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds, knocked down to Glenhuntly Lodge and Bluegrass Bloodstock for $110,000.

He was then sent through the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in the Leneva Park draft and sold to Wattle Bloodstock and Fownes for $150,000.

It’s the 44th season winner for Rich Enuff who is also represented on Hong Kong but the in-form Scotch Tycoon, winner of three of his five races this season
