Bandipur gave James Cummings his first stakes winner for Godolphin as Australian head trainer when running away with Saturday's Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville.
Settled just behind the leaders by Dom Tourneur to the home turn, Bandipur ($5) came with his challenge in the home straight to accelerate clear inside the final 150m to defeat Arkham Knight ($26) by 1 1/4-lengths.
Mystified ($11) finished another half length away third with the $2.40 favourite Ducimus weakening late into fifth after sharing the lead around the home turn.
A Darley-homebred son of Commands, the two-year-old Bandipur had finished runner-up to I Did It Again over 1200m at Caulfield at his previous start.
David Charles, Melbourne foreman for Godolphin, told the Adelaide Advertiser Bandipur is a straightforward colt.
"He's such a professional, you just push the button and he goes," Charles said.
"Full credit to Dom - he told us that was how he was going to ride him and he delivered it to a tee."
