US Bloodlines Boost Edinburgh Park Success

Astute breeder Ian Smith of Edinburgh Park Stud has placed a lot of faith in US bloodlines to upgrade his broodmare band with happy results highlighted by Group I performer Glenfiddich and $2.8million earning stakes-winner Eleven Eleven.

Bred and sold by Edinburgh Park, Group I performer Glenfiddich highlights the quality of this outstanding female family.

Smith achieved early success for Edinburgh Park when producing a Fastnet Rock colt from Rose of Cimarron in 2010 that topped the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Sale. He fetched $960,000 and achieved racetrack success as Group II winner Bull Point before retiring to a career at stud.

Rose of Cimmaron was a sister to Group III winner Mica’s Pride, who emerged as a blue hen through the deeds of her Group I winning sons Criterion and Comin’ Through, prompting Smith to delve deeper into the North American origins of the family to secure more female descendants of influential producer Adarling and her stakes-winning daughter Darling Alice.

The fruits of his endeavour are plain to see with careful and considered matings producing burgeoning success for the family which is represented in four of the Edinburgh Park Inglis Easter yearlings as listed below:

Lot 322 Filly Exceed and Excel x Nothin But a Dream (USA), by First Defence

Half-sister to Group I placed Group II winner Glenfiddich, who has won over $400,000 and is on the comeback trail following tendon injury and has been pleasing Peter Moody in his current preparation.
