I Am Invincible might be leading the overall sires table but over the short sprint distances, Nicconi still has a slight edge.  The pair account for four Group I winning sprinters – Nicconi has Nature Strip and Graceful Girl, while I Am Invincible has Home Affairs and Marabi.

So You Think leads the mile to middle distance table with a formidable flagbearer in Think It Over, who is right in his comfort zone with this distance range.

Savabeel also hits his best form here, while Golden Slipper winning sires Sebring and Pierro show their versatility as proven sources of very good milers.

In the staying sires table it’s no surprise to see Verry Elleegant’s sire Zed at the top with Shamus Award nipping at his heels thanks in part to his star stayer Incentivise, who blazed through the spring carnival with a string of outstanding wins.

Dundeel leads this group by winners, so when you see one in a staying race it pays to have plenty of respect and his star mare She’s Ideel was brilliant when resuming from a spell with a good second in the Group I ATC Chipping Norton Stakes last week.

Wet tracks will suit this mare well and she may well be in for her best ever preparation.
