One to Watch – Sha Tin

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 21

The Torryburn Stud brand is no stranger to success in Hong Kong having been carried by Group I winning sprinter Hot King Prawn and it appears on a very promising Deep Field three year-old that opened his account at Sha Tin on Sunday and was the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale top lot in 2020.

Narrowly beaten when making his debut on January 30, the Ricky Yiu trained gelding was a hot favourite for his second start in the 1200m Class 4 event and strolled to an easy three length win for Zac Purton.

Voyage Bubble was bought by his trainer for $380,000 at Inglis Classic from the Torryburn draft and is a half-brother to Group III winner Diddums and stakes-placed Brettan being the sixth winner from six to race out of good producer Raheights.

Voyage Bubble was the Inglis Classic sale-topper in 2020.

Voyage Bubble was the most expensive of 20 yearlings by Deep Field sold at Inglis Classic in 2020 and topped the entire sale.

Deep Field has a great record in Hong Kong with Voyage Bubble his 18th winner in the jurisdiction joining the likes of Group I winner Sky Field as well as Circuit Seven, All in Mond, Winning Dreamer, My Sugar and California Deepshot.
