Stakes Goals for Sinba

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 16

Newhaven Park’s Xtravagant has been in the limelight of late for his brilliant $2million Inglis Millennium winner Xtravagant Star, but he has another stakes contender on the horizon with the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained three year-old Sinba staking a claim for autumn glory at Randwick on Wednesday.

A winner when returning from a spell at Newcastle last month, Sinba took on older horses in the Benchmark 72 event over 1550m and was a class above.

The widest runner turning for home, Sinba let down with a big finish for Jay Ford, chiming in at the furlong and racing away to win by two lengths.

A $90,000 Inglis Classic Highway Session purchase for Ric Wylie Bloodstock / Mark Richards from the Newhaven Park draft, Sinba has three wins from five starts with prizemoney just shy of $90,000 and holds an entry for the Group I ATC Australian Derby.

Sinba was a $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Sinba is the first winner from Kamili, a placed Bernardini (USA) daughter of Shamardal’s stakes-winning daughter Premardal, whose dam is a half-sister to European champions Arazi and Noverre.

A Champion NZ 3YO by versatile sire Pentire (GB), Xtravagant is quietly building a nice record at stud with 46 starters producing 18 winners that include stakes-winners Xtravagant Star and He’s Xceptional and two more stakes horses in Lavish Girl and Devoted.

In a world where young stallions are often judged far too quickly, it might be wise to reserve judgement on this one with the back end of the season offering the potential of good things to come.
