The second session of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Monday proved a showcase for first season sires who provided three of the top four lots and as we head into the final day of Book 1 the first season sire standings look like this.
Arrowfield Stud’s The Autumn Sun had the second highest priced yearling sold on Monday with Valiant Stud’s filly from Talimena knocked down for $550,000 to Glenn Burrows Bloodstock on behalf of New Zealand owner breeder Gary Harding.
She is now the highest priced filly sold at this sale.
Darley’s Harry Angel (IRE) is the most represented first season sire at this sale and hit a home run for Torryburn Stud when their colt from Chicquita sold for $460,000 to Roughwood Park.
Offered on behalf of Alan Osburg, the colt is the second foal of his dam, who was also bred by Mr Osburg and is a daughter of Group II winner Prisoner of Love.
Widden Stud’s Trapeze Artist weighed in with a Vinery Stud consigned filly from Group III winner Zelady’s Night Out that sold for $430,000 to Suman Hedge Bloodstock.
She is the first foal of the half-sister to Group III winner Excites Zelady and importantly Comprende and I Am Zelady, two young daughters of I Am Invincible being bred to best sires.
