Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 7

Only three heats for two year-olds at the Randwick barrier trials on Monday morning with stakes-winner Ebhaar redeeming herself with a heat win following her Widden Stakes failure and an unraced filly bred to go fast and early caught our eye when she did exactly that.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott would be happy with the run of Sweet Baby Boom, who has a pedigree that screams 2YO stakes-winner!

A $360,000 Magic millions purchase from the Rosemont Stud draft for her trainers, Sweet Baby Boom was having her first public outing and jumped fast from the outside to take up the lead and was in front all the way.

She was strong to the line winning by two lengths with ears pricked and Tim Clark sitting quietly in the saddle.

Sweet Baby Boom is a half-sister to two winners from former  slick 2YO stakes-winner Sugar Babe, an Exceed and Excel daughter of Group II ATC Surround stakes winner On Type, who was trained by Gai Waterhouse.

Sweet Baby Boom is bred on an explosive nick between Spirit of Boom and daughters of Exceed and Excel that has so far achieved 100% success producing five winners from five runners headed by stakes-winners Ef Troop and this season’s juvenile stakes-winner Get in the Spirit.

We’re tipping Sweet Baby Boom will not damage the strike rate!
