First Runner for Jameka

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 27

The two year-old maiden at Pakenham this evening features the debut of the first foal from Ciaron Maher’s former champion staying mare Jameka, a triple Group I winner of the Caulfield Cup, The BMW and VRC Oaks.

Two year-old colt Sir Bailey is from the first crop of Lonhro’s Group I winning son Impending and like his dam is trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

While he has not trialled officially, the market would suggest Sir Bailey has plenty of talent and can make his presence felt in the 1200m maiden with Jamie Kah to ride.

A $4.8million earner by Myboycharlie (IRE), Jameka was bred and sold as a yearling by Gilgai Farm with Ciaron Maher purchasing her for $130,000 at Inglis Premier in 2014.

She was offered at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was bought by Halo Racing Services for $2.6million with some of her original co-owners buying out their partners.

Jameka went through the 2018 MM National Broodmare Sale selling for $2.6million.

Jameka has a yearling colt and weanling filly to follow both by Dundeel and last spring was covered by Darley’s champion Dubawi son Ghaiyaath (IRE) in his first Australian season at stud.

Impending is looking for his very first winner and Sir Bailey might be it!
