Alpine Wolf Wins Launceston Guineas

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 26

The first stakes-winner for Armidale Stud’s High Chaparral (IRE) stallion Alpine Eagle, progressive three year-old Alpine Wolf scored his second Black Type victory when taking out the Listed Launceston Guineas (2100m) in Tasmania on Australia Day.

A short priced favourite, the Barry Campbell trained gelding scored a tenacious head win in a thrilling finishing taking his overall record to four wins and two seconds from just six starts.

A homebred for the Calabro family, Alpine Wolf is the second named foal and first winner for the 3-time winning West Quest (CAN) mare Copper Dancer.

A regular visitor to Alpine Eagle, Copper Dancer has a 2yo filly and a filly foal by the handsome son of High Chaparral and was one of 90 mares to be covered by him last spring.
