Australia Day’s hottest 100’s – as four six-figure lots feature in Digital Sale

A timely black-type performance in a Tasmanian 2YO feature on Sunday has helped propel broodmare Miss Cooper (Medaglia d’Oro) to top lot honours in the Inglis Digital January (Late) Online Sale.

Miss Cooper topped the sale at $185,000.

Miss Cooper – offered by Rathmore Bloodstock in foal to Microphone – has produced two foals so far, dual G3-placed 3YO gelding Karacasu (Headwater) and 2YO filly Piiink Beauty (Zebedee), who finished third in the Listed Elwick Stakes at Hobart behind Inglis Premier graduate Bello Beau (Brazen Beau).

Kambula Stud’s David Toole went to $185,000 to secure the 9YO mare.

“She’s a Melbourne winning, Medaglia d’Oro mare and the mother of two Stakes placegetters – possibly a Stakes winner in the making in Karacasu,” an excited Toole said.

“Karacasu is trained by my good friend Richard Jolly, so I know all about him and he’s going to be set for the Stakes races during the Adelaide carnival.

“We also bought a nice Zoustar mare, Chawinda for $16,000 – she was purchased as a yearling by a good judge in Paul Moroney and won her first start at Cranbourne, she’ll go to stud this year.

“I love buying these mares off Inglis Digital and it’s a pleasure to deal with (Inglis Digital Business Manager) Nick Melmeth, he does an exceptional job.

“We are on cloud nine at Kambula Stud this week, with graduates Yulong Command ($300,000 Inglis Easter) winning at Moonee Valley on Saturday and today Streetcar Stranger won the Listed W.J. Adams Stakes at Caulfield.

“That follows three inches of rain on the farm this week, life is very good!”

It was a bittersweet result for Ross Hatton of Rathmore Bloodstock, who purchased Miss Cooper at the 2016 Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale for $72,500.

“It was a very reluctant sale on our part but I appreciate that some partners just needed to sell and I’m absolutely delighted that she was bought by David Toole at Kambula Stud.

“David, Bec and all the team are good friends of mine and while it’s sad to see her go, I’m rapt she’s going to such a great home and for a very good price,” Hatton said.

“Inglis Digital is just a fantastic avenue for selling horses.”

A pair of Written Tycoon 3YOs shared second top lot honours at $115,000.

B2B Thoroughbreds-consigned filly Written Doubt was purchased by Classic Bloodstock and the gelding Publicist was purchased by Josiah Ma, Executive Director of Shen You Holdings.

Publicist is headed to Hong Kong.

Offered by Newgate as agent, Publicist will continue his racing career in Hong Kong, a path successfully forged by half brother Healthy Happy – who raced as Leviathan in Australia – a G3 winner at Sha Tin on New Year’s Day.

“I bought Publicist for my father and he will be exported to Hong Kong to be trained by Francis Lui,” Ma said.

“Shane McGrath (Director of Shen You Holdings), who is a very good judge, inspected the horse for me.

“Physically he is strong with good gate speed and races on pace, which is perfect for racing in Hong Kong and being a half brother to Healthy Happy is a bonus.

“I have had many had many successes from Inglis Digital in the past couple of years.

“Igniting ($47,500 2020 March (Late) Sale) won a race in Australia and three times in Hong Kong since I bought him, while Stoltz ($130,000 2021 June (Early) Sale) has placed second in both his Hong Kong starts.

“Shen You Holdings has also purchased a number of broodmares on Inglis Digital including Members Joy ($800,000 2021 June (Early) Sale).”

The fourth top lot of the sale was 4YO mare Ralph’s Honour (Not a Single Doubt), offered by Kitchwin Hills and purchased for $105,000 by Garvin and Cousens.

The January (Late) Online Sale concluded with an 86% clearance and gross of $2.84 million, which takes the January 2022 tally to $5.53 million.

Today at Caulfield, Inglis Premier graduate Miss Roseiano was determined winner of the G3 Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) on debut.

Bred and offered at 2021 Inglis Premier by Noorilim Park, Miss Roseiano was purchased for $300,000 by Gelagotis Racing, James Bester and Osher Group.

Described as out “out of the box” by stable representative Manny Gelagotis, Miss Roseiano is the second foal for her Stakes-placed dam Special Lover (Pins), a descendant of Eight Carat.

Miss Roseiano is now $10 with Tab.com.au Fixed Odds for the Blue Diamond Stakes on February 26.

Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill
A busy set of trials at Rosehill on Monday morning featured four heats for juveniles and the winners were all unraced youngsters by Tassort, Too Darn Hot (GB), Super Seth and Golden Slipper winner Farnan, while a Wootton Bassett (GB) colt showed he could possibly still get to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
