$1.1million Invincible Filly Tops MM Day 4

Media Release - Friday January 14

A filly by I Am Invincible topped Day Four of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale today when selling for $1.1 million.

Leading Sydney based bloodstock agent James Harron held the bid when auctioneer Clint Donovan dropped the gavel and was the first of three youngsters to sell for a seven figure price.

$1.1million I Am Invincible filly from Villa Carlotta with the movie star good looks!

From the group performed Street Cry mare Villa Carlotta, the I Am Invincible filly was sold by Segenhoe Stud, as agent for the Camilleri family's Fairway Thoroughbreds - breeder of former champion sale graduate Winx.

Harron has purchased star colts Capitalist and King's Legacy from the same ring in recent years and will be hoping this filly can also make an impact both on the track and then later in the broodmare barn.

"We like to hand pick a few very special fillies during the year and she's a standout," Harron said. "She's an absolutely beautiful filly with a terrific pedigree."

"There's quite a bit happening on her page - a lovely filly by a stallion that's doing a great job with all his progeny, but particularly his fillies and she comes off a great nursery in Segenhoe."

"Fillies are a very long term investment - when you're racing them and breeding with them. You've got nice residual there through the family. We look at these as a five, six, seven, eight year plan."

"Hopefully we can race well and breed well and develop the family."

Harron said no decision had been made as yet as to who would train the quality filly.

"We'll get her broken in and get a line on her and work out who is going to best suit her as a trainer. She might not be super early, we'll give her a little time - she's quite a big filly, with a lot of scope. I think it's important we choose the right trainer."

Later in the day Coolmore's Tom Magnier snapped up a stunning colt by Pierro for $1 million from the draft of Newgate Farm.

Offered as Lot 798, the colt is the third foal of the US Group winning Munnings mare Ben's Duchess and is a half brother to the unbeaten New Zealand three-year-old Mohawk Brave.

Meanwhile, late in the session Hawkes Racing secured the prized Deep Field colt (Lot 835) from the stakes performed Capital Commander for $1 million.

The colt is a half brother to the stable's immensely talented three-year-old Clemenceau - a winner of his past three starts including victories at Moonee Valley and Flemington.

The sale gross has now soared past $205 million with 701 lots sold at an average price of $293,648. The clearance rate currently sits at 93.5%.

"It's been an outstanding day again," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch reported. "I keep repeating myself - we're four days in and it's been super."

"It is something we have dreamt of doing for a long, long time. We're up to 15 million dollar horses now - another three today - we have an outstanding average and a clearance rate you can only dream about."

"The gross has already surpassed last year and we still have tomorrow night (as part of Book One). It's been sensational."

"It's been a very buoyant week. The buyers here have an insatiable thirst for outstanding yearlings and that's what we've got here."
