One to Watch – Newcastle

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 10

It was third time lucky for this talented daughter of Fastnet Rock when she finally got everything right to win in a breeze at the Newcastle meeting on the Beaumont track on Monday.

The Kris Lees trained Royal Ballet was luckless at her first two runs last month, but enjoyed an easier run this time with Dylan Gibbons in the saddle and when angled into clear ground she quickly put paid to her rivals skipping clear to win the 1350m maiden by three lengths.

Royal Ballet as a yearling.

Withdrawn from Inglis Easter and retained to race by Coolmore and partners, Royal Ballet is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to stakes-winner Casquets and is the second winner from stakes-winning High Chaparral (IRE) mare Ballet Suite.
